In my lifetime, like most people, I’ve been on the receiving end of good and bad gifts. I was once gifted a top-of-the-line appliance for an anniversary when I was hoping for something more personal. Although it was a wonderful gift, and the intentions were good, it wasn’t the right gift for me at the time and I felt just the tiniest bit disappointed.
That moment has always stayed with me and was probably the first inkling I had that I should be working in the gifting business. In the years that followed, I kept hearing friends say, “I just don’t know what to get my wife (daughter, son, mother, assistant…) for our anniversary (her birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day…). Or, “She always did the shopping and now I have to do it alone.” Or, “I’m out of time; I’ll just get a gift card.” I just knew there had to be a better way. Gift giving can and should be as much of a pleasure as gift receiving, and I decided it was my mission to help others enjoy that pleasure as much as I always have. (Seriously, there’s not much I love more than selecting, wrapping and giving gifts!)
There’s true joy in seeing someone open a gift that has been hand-picked just for them…even if you’re not the one doing the picking. I absolutely love helping people hurdle the unknowns, get over the indecision, and take away the fear that comes with getting the wrong thing. But what’s even more important to me is that my clients always remember that they’re steering the train. They give me the information I need to make wise selections, and they make the ultimate choice. It’s truly the best of both worlds. I get the satisfaction of helping my clients, and they get the delight of seeing the people who matter most get exactly what matters most to them.
